Project Description

SPECTACLE

A cluster of hoodoos is ignited by reflected light as the sun breaks the horizon in Bryce Canyon National Park.

It is difficult to describe the myriad of emotions I feel watching sunrise in Bryce.  As the canyon awakens and embraces the warmth of the sun, small pockets of hoodoos are ignited by reflective light in an endless dance across the Amphitheater.  Coupled with crisp temperatures, a chilling wind, and the sounds of silence, the mesmerizing light display is enough to trigger nearly every sense the human body can experience.  Like I said, difficult to describe.  On this morning my eyes were immediately drawn to an area which seemed to glow disproportionately to the surrounding landscape almost like a beacon from the canyon floor begging to be explored.  I experienced an overwhelming peace, and later followed this feeling down the Fairlyland Loop, which now ranks as one of my all-time favorite hikes.
