IN FINITY

The grandeur of Glacier’s mountain peaks, cascades, and alpine lakes are revealed on the trail to Grinnell Glacier.

This photo will forever be special to me as the final image captured by my Nikon D810, my main camera since September 2014.  There are photographers that think of cameras as tools to serve a purpose, freely subjecting them to the expectant wear and tear of harsh environments, letting them dangle by their side while scaling mountains, and interchanging lenses in dusty environments *shudder* without a second thought.  To each their own, but to me that Nikon has been my comfort and escape at so many points in life.  Together we’ve both seen the chaos and simplicity of the world with its stark and subtle colors, and striking and soothing light.

This photo was shot on the trail to Grinnell Glacier.  I’ve never seen lakes this turquoise in my life, and the hike only got better and better as the miles progressed.  My final destination could actually be seen in this photo in the middle right area where the single waterfall fed by the giant glacier meets the beige plateau.  Staring at a glacial lake covered with patches of ice sheathing cold blue water was an experience like nothing I’ve ever felt before, and accompanying me throughout it all was my trusty Nikon D810.  I’m really going to miss it! =,)
