Project Description

A LIGHT DUSTING

Snow in the high mountains covers a forest already in prime Fall colors.

I knew there was a strong chance of snowfall at higher elevations on my last day in Colorado, and already satisfied with the shots I’ve taken the few days prior, decided to spend the day just exploring new areas before driving home.  But even knowing the weather forecast could not prepare me for the incredible conditions that day.  As I drove the ascent through the Gunnison National Forest snow began to fall, softly at first before quickly turning the landscape into a winter paradise.  Kebler Pass was already ablaze with peak fall colors, and the dusting of snow on top of that rendered me breathless.  At some point I just pulled over, exited my car camera-less, and wandered in a forest taking in the immense silence and tranquility of a light snowfall among the aspens.  It was then and there that I promised myself I’d find my way back to this amazing place.
