Project Description

SPECTRUM

Secluded in Diamond Fork Canyon lies this explosion of Fall colors.

Utah is known for its deserts, but within the counties of northern Utah lies a microcosm of of diverse landscapes from the lake scattered Wasatch Mountains to the aspen groves within the towering high Uintahs to the dynamic Bonneville Salt Flats.  About one hour south of Salt Lake City flows the Fifth Water Hot Springs, a popular destination for hikers seeking to relax in its warm pools.  It took me five years living as a Utah resident before I came here in early Autumn with a group of friends but I was immediately struck by the Fall colors.  This scene approaching the hot pools was especially engrained in my mind as it exhibited the full spectrum of the rainbow.  I made the hour drive again the very next day complete with my camera gear to capture this shot, and neither the rapidly rising sun nor the girl I met enjoying a solitary birthday hike on some shrooms could stop me from getting this shot.
